In depth

Verdict

Dabbers Ridge, Sea Hunter and Belly Dancer form our shortlist here, with the vote going to Belly Dancer. Belly Dancer is admirably consistent and, having won her maiden over course and distance, comes into the reckoning in this handicap from what appears to be a fair mark. Sea Hunter has taken to the headgear he has worn this season and deserved his Newmarket win last time. He can go well, although the draw could have been kinder, that last comment also applying to Dabbers Ridge, who was a big disappointment at Beverley last time, but the going was softer than the official description that evening, and he had looked promising before that. Turning to the others and Sir Nod is probably better than he has so far shown, but we'd like to see him prove that point first, while, from an in-form yard, Rowan Lodge can be expected to improve over tonight's trip, but the jury is out at present on the others. Once again, then, for us, the vote goes to Belly Dancer.
