Goose Man made good progress over hurdles in the spring and reappeared with a very encouraging first start over fences at Wexford where he stayed on over slightly shorter. Lyreen Lad also looked progressive when landing a maiden hurdle at Tipperary in April and looks a promising chaser in the making. Monbeg Chit Chat landed a Clonmel maiden in March and though taking on better company at Limerick later in the month never looked like getting into contention. Winning point-to-pointer GLENCAIRN VIEW did well over hurdles and was always more likely to do better over the bigger obstacles and gets the nod after a fair run at Clonmel a couple of weeks ago, his first start for over a year. Mannin Island ran a bit better at Thurles and his experience should see him in contention.
