In depth

Verdict

John Oxx is represented by the twice-raced Katiola, a maiden winner over this trip at Leopardstown and open to plenty of improvement, and the frustrating Hay Point, who hasn't progressed as expected after landing a Fairyhouse maiden in June. SENSE OF PURPOSE won a Group 3 at Leopardstown last August and looked on the way back when a close fourth to Aklan in a Roscommon Listed contest in July. This will be only his second run in a handicap and his overall form entitles him to the vote despite his big weight. Placere looks a big threat as she could hardly have won more impressively in the Ladies Derby Handicap here in July. She's up 8lb for that but is very much on the upgrade and looks certain to be in the shake-up. Montebell's second to Hartani at Tipperary in May looks a fine run in light of the winner's subsequent form and she's another who should go well.
