Verdict

Ballydoyle have won this eight times in the past ten years and look determined to land it again with three entries. Joseph O'Brien is on board ADELAIDE, who looks the stable number one after his fine run in the Group 2 Prix Hocquart at Longchamp. That was only his second start and with further progress to come the Derby entry looks the one to beat. Mekong River completed a four-timer before finding the company too hot and finished last in the Derby Trial at Lingfield when stablemate Blue Hussar was an honourable fourth. Jim Bolger runs the unbeaten pair Rennaissance Art, who beat Australia on his debut here in June, and Kevin Manning's mount Theophilus, a 9l maiden winner on heavy ground at Gowran. The filly Edelmira is highly-regarded and has numerous Group entries following her facile maiden success at Tipperary.
