Verdict

Aidan O'Brien complicates matters by saddling three of the seven runners here with Superlative Stakes sixth Emperor Claudius looking the pick of the trio over Await The Dawn and Viscount Nelson but POET'S VOICE sets a decent standard and he is preferred. Saeed Bin Suroor's colt stepped up from a promising debut effort when opening his account in a decent novice race at Newmarket before running a highly creditable third in York's Acomb Stakes last time. The form of that race is rock solid and Poet's Voice is taken to further enhance the reputation of that contest. Mark Johnston's Layali Al Andalus looks to be going the right way but this is a lot tougher than the nursery that he won last time, while Silver Grecian is likely to struggle under his penalty incurred for his win in the Superlative Stakes. Brian Meehan's Roi de Vitesse strictly has the beating of Emperor Claudius on running in that race and cannot be discounted but Poet's Voice has solid claims and he looks the one they all have to beat.
