Verdict

Every reason to expect a big run from BONNIE CHARLIE and he gets the vote to land a competitive race. Our selection can be excused his one run in a handicap this term as softening ground may've been against him and he finished only one place behind Hawkeyethenoo, who has gone in since, and on his last run over this trip he looks well treated. At the other end of the handicap Smarty Socks is considered as a course-and-distance winner up 5lbs following a smooth York victory while Arteus remains progressive and could yet defy this mark. Opus Maximus is consistent but hides little from the handicapper, Aldermoor is held by that one while Beauchamp Xerxes needs to wake up but could do so now blinkers are tried. Rain may help Horatio Carter and along with Swift Gift and Decent Fella he's not discounted.
