Verdict

Smarty Socks continues to defy his age and the handicapper and ran another fine race at York three weeks ago behind Sirius Prospect. He is a leading player in this and one of the few that arrive in any kind of form. Snow Bay was well beaten at Thirsk after winning at Chester while Shebebi is tried in blinkers after disappointing when favourite on the Roodeye earlier this month. LAFFAN had a rough passage at Musselburgh last time and that run is best forgotten as he had looked on the way back at Newcastle earlier. He could finally end his losing run here, though Farlow was second over this trip last year and returned to form at Newmarket on Thursday.
