In depth

Verdict

As ever in the Brockelsby, there is no form for the backers to go on here so what can only be a tentative vote goes to Paul Cole's Northern Tour, who is bred to handle the cut in the ground and comes from a yard that can ready a two-year-old first time out, and he gets the vote ahead of Shadow Bay and Mr Melodious. The last mentioned has an influence for handling a soft surface on the dam's side of his pedigree and the Barry Hills-trained colt has to be respected. Bill Turner has done well in this race before and his representative Sally's Dilemma is speedily bred and should handle the underfoot conditions. Being out of a Rainbow Quest mare, Richard Fahey's Olympic Dream may want further and of more interest may be Mick Channon's Shadow Bay. With so little for backers to go on, the market should be watched closely but the one that gets our vote is Northern Tour.
