Verdict

Jack The Gent got off the mark over C&D earlier this month but probably lacks the scope of some of his rivals here. The same can probably be said of Rudanphast but Soir D'Estruval, a winner at Vichy last August, is interesting on his first start in this country though would probably prefer more give in the ground. Basford Bob is heading in the right direction and should be competitive getting weight from the previous winners in the race but there's almost certainly more to come from easy Ludlow winner CAVITE BETA and the five-year-old is preferred to King Of The Night, who could be excused his failure to cope with Cue Card and company in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time but isn't certain to appreciate this longer trip on breeding.
