In depth

Verdict

Pulau Tioman won a soft race at Beverley last month and struggled off his new mark at Epsom last time so, with Arabie giving very little encouragement on his first start for Mark Johnston, the vote goes to Navado. Sir Michael Stoute's gelding is less exposed that most of these after just five starts and looks ahead of the handicapper judged by his win at Windsor and close third behind Scott's View at York last term. Admittedly the son of Rainbow Quest comes here without a previous run this term but that should not be a problem with the stable well capable of producing one first time out. Solo Flight is well treated on his best but is difficult to catch right and a bigger danger may be the consistent King's Thought, although there is a suspicion that the handicapper now has his measure. Night Sight found just Repulse Bay too good last time here over 1m4f and will not be inconvenienced by the drop in trip but Navado has solid claims.
