In depth

Verdict

Bahlino sees out the mile and a half trip well, and is fancied to get back to winning ways here. Successful at Redcar and Beverley earlier in the season, he lost no cast in defeat behind Cesarewitch-bound Inglis Drever at Newmarket, and probably found the soft ground against him, when beaten at Ascot in July. Given a break since, he should come back fresh as a daisy, and is the one to beat. Doveden Hero ran a blinder at York on his first try at a mile and a half a week ago, and there is no reason why he should not make his presence felt. Desert Royalty has yet to race over this trip but shapes as though she needs it now judged on her efforts so far. Treculiar, Head To Kerry and Henesys Leg are all candidates for the frame, but in a cracking contest, Bahlino has the best credentials of all and is the pick.
