Verdict

Barney Rebel showed promise in a couple of starts as a two-year-old and is the type to do better over longer trips this season. He makes more appeal than Calaf, who has failed to build on a debut second at Yarmouth. Carousel has much to prove this year and Daliana finished last on her introduction in an ordinary maiden at Kempton earlier this month. Newcomer Dakar will probably need more time which leaves DANISH PASTRY as the likely winner of this. The filly, now with John Gosden, was slowly away on her debut for Hughie Morrison at Kempton and then ran green. But she stayed on nicely in the closing stages under hands and heels riding and is sure to have learned from the experience.
