Verdict

TONES has yet to make a winning contribution to the Richard Hannon juvenile army but has followed up a solid if unspectacular Brighton debut with two much better efforts in stronger maiden company. He was beaten less than a length last time over a furlong further here and has attractive claims reverting to six furlongs. His experience of this unique track is a major bonus too. Pitt Rivers, one of two Mick Channon contenders, backed up solid maiden form with a pleasing effort in a Chester nursery after a two-month break. He looks the main danger, whilst stable companion Miss Lahar has shown enough in three maiden attempts to warrant shortlist inclusion.
