Verdict

As De Fer was well behind Loughalder at Uttoxeter in May but ran a lot better when second at Ffos Las on his reappearance and could be interesting off a low weight here. St Dominick is an improving stayer judged on his victory over 3m here 12 days ago but has a welter burden to carry, though David Noonan takes off 5lb. Auvergnat tries a new trip so will have his stamina to prove but conditions won’t be a problem and he only found a back-to-form Viva Steve too strong at Market Rasen in October. This looks the perfect race for WOODFORD COUNTY (NAP), however, as he stays all day and will be all the better for a run around Sedgefield recently. Ciaran Gethings is good value for his 7lb claim and Philip Hobbs' eight-year-old is now 4lb lower than when placed in both the Eider Chase and Midland Grand National in the spring. Gorgehous Lliege has ability but is wholly unpredictable nowadays.
