In depth

Verdict

This looks a good race for the track and it should produce plenty of future winners. Winning Bumper CHAMP was returning from a long break when headed close home on his hurdling debut at Ascot and can go one better. Rockpoint couldn't handle Grade 2 company at Kempton but his previous narrow defeat at Newbury puts him in the frame for this. Commodore Barry has shown a bit of promise in bumpers but Barn Hill, who was well supported at Taunton in November, had already weakened out of contention when falling three out. Buster Moon attempted to make all at Chepstow but couldn't quicken when headed though looks to have the scope to do better.
