In depth

Verdict

Plenty of deadwood in this field and MONSIEUR CADOU has an obvious opportunity to get to the winners' enclosure though Knock Em Dead and Doctor Disny are worthy of inclusion upon the shortlist. The selection stays three miles and ran a creditable race in defeat at Taunton. The handicapper has been a little naughty in allocating a 5lb rise for that effort though in fairness, he had dropped Tom George's charge by 8lb prior to that effort. Knock Em Dead isn't the most fluent of hurdlers though has to be respected given the resurgent form of the Jonjo O'Neill stable. Richie McLernon is good value for his 3lb claim.Doctor Disny may have needed his first run from absence so can be forgiven that blemish on the formbook. Norwest is still a maiden after nine starts though his most recent appearance at Exeter represented a step in the right direction. Kathleens Pride is better known as a winning chaser though Tom George attempts to exploit a lower hurdling mark today. Witch's Hat was found out against stronger opposition and this obvious drop in grade looks to be a wise move on balance. With the remainder exposed as fairly ordinary, having considered the alternatives, Monsieur Cadou is the pick.
