Verdict

Kauto Star has scared away the opposition here and so only has two rivals, Goldbrook looks the best of them, Mistral De La Cour looks set for third prize. Paul Nichols said at the start of the season that Kauto Star was a very talented horse and he was proved right when he made an exhilarating British debut that had his Arkle odds rightly tumbling. He beat some very promising types in that contest and can use today's race as a training session towards the big one. Goldbrook should be the one to chase home the favourite having finished an excellent third behind Oneway at Sandown. Mistral De La Cour didn't do too badly in a decent novice event at Towcester last time but is up against here. So it should be an easy task for Kauto star who is a confident selection
