In depth

Verdict

A very disappointing turnout numerically especially as Mikael D'Haguenet was engaged to run here yesterday. VOLER LA VEDETTE finished third behind Hurricane Fly and Solwhit in this a year ago with Mourad just behind. She has proved herself at every level winning eleven races to date and made a very nice comeback in a Grade 2 at Navan. Mourad undoubtedly improved as the season progressed though his best form has come over slightly further and Colm Murphy's mare could just do him for pace. The Real Article has won a pair of Grade 2's over the minimum trip recently and though meeting much better opposition it's possible he could be even better over today's extra half-mile. County Hurdle winner Final Approach is sure to win good races this season but this looks just too tough.
