Hostile Fire won four races on the Flat in the UK and made a promising start over hurdles at Leopardstown. He started a short price here last time but found Officieux too strong though the winner could turn out to be useful. That form looks just stronger than Zafayan's two placed efforts though Dermot Weld's charge hasn't had much experience and looks certain to get into the picture. However, both could find MINELLA BERRY too good for them here as John Kiely's winning point-to-pointer caught the eye with a very promising run behind Rock The World at Down Royal in November and a strong pace on this more testing ground can see him in the winner's enclosure. Snaidhm hadn't shown much before a fine run behind Mount Colah at Punchestown and any further rain would aid his cause.
