Verdict

Romanesco had just hit the front when getting the last all wrong at Cheltenham last week and is a rare runner here for Gordon Elliott. He should make a bold bid for compensation but NO LOOSE CHANGE is a lot better than he showed on his final start of last season at Ayr. He has only had four starts over fences under Rules and could be the one to beat if his jumping stands up to the test. There should be more to come this winter from the lightly-raced Court By Surprise while Helpston was a progressive sort last season and, like hunter chaser Eleazar, has already proved he handles this tight track. Pentiffic isn't out of this either if fully wound-up while Strumble Head had Rockiteer behind when second to Pigeon Island over 2m5f at Uttoxeter, though has struggled over this longer trip over fences. Double Chocolate arrives in good form but this company may be too hot.
