It's unusual to see older horses from the Mark Johnston and Charlie Hills yards appearing in a maiden but LIFE AND TIMES clearly has ability judged on his third at Newcastle, his first start on the Flat, and looks the one to beat. Crow Down is another recruit from bumpers and Zara's Boy went jumping last year, though with little success. Defiant Spirit may be a danger, however, as he wasn't beaten far over 7f at Warwick on his second outing. Modem is by Motivator but watched on his debut.
