Verdict

Most of these arrive in far from sparkling form with OVERNIGHT FAME the notable exception. After a warm-up run after a considerable absence, the George gelding was driven out to land a small-field Southwell chase. He goes well on the forecast ground, this trip looks his optimum distance and a 4lb rise for that Southwell success seems perfectly fair. He looks hard to beat. Full Of Joy is a possible threat though and continues to give the impression that he has more to offer over the larger obstacles. It would be no surprise were he to improve considerably on previous efforts with the better ground also likely to be in his favour. Sir Mattie, a one-paced third here last time in a moderate affair, looks best of the rest.
