In depth

Verdict

David Pipe's Aboukir Bay ran better until weakening late on at Taunton last month and has claims racing off the same mark today but he is likely to be placed at best in a race where it is hard to get away from WIESENFURST, who gets the vote over Ballymorn. Henrietta Knight's gelding won well on heavy ground at Towcester in January and should appreciate the return to two miles having not seemingly stayed further last time but he may be too high in the weights now racing off a mark 6lbs higher than at Towcester. Magnificent Seven is probably better over further and of more interest may be Neil Mulholland's Normandy Landings, who has been showing gradual improvement in recent starts. Mark Gillard's Littleton Aldor ran much better when chasing home Star Galaxy at Chepstow last month and he has every chance off the same mark today but a better bet may be Wiesenfurst. Gary Moore could hardly have his team in better form and he looks the one to beat having made a pleasing first start over fences when chasing home Brushford at Fontwell on his latest start in January and he looks worth backing despite having been raised 5lbs since that outing.
