In depth

Verdict

Treetops Hotel gets the vote over Cup of Love, with Icannshift and River of Diamonds seen as the main dangers in the finale. Treetops Hotel gained a long overdue success when getting the better of The Gaikwar at Brighton last time, that being his first victory in four years. The runner-up has been performing consistently at this sort of level so in the context of today's event, Treetops Hotel must be fancied with Amy Baker in the plate again. Cup of Love found 12 furlongs a bit too far when touched off at Catterick but beat Montjeu Baby at Brighton the time before. That form is fair and she should be involved in the finish back over this more suitable distance. Icannshift has been knocking at the door and this poor race presents yet another opportunity, but will he take it? River of Diamonds has to give weight away all round but has more winning form than most. He bounced back to winning ways at Brighton but the soft ground was the key and he may once again be taken off his feet here. All in all, we prefer the claims of Treetops Hotel.
