      Verdict

Henry Cecil's GOVERN was narrowly beaten over this trip on debut, but we'll side with him to come good at the second time of asking, ahead of Cansili Star and newcomer Appeal To Reason. With four of the scheduled seven starters seeing a track for the first time, the market can be a good friend to us here. Govern's closely related to a couple of regular winners, and wasn't far behind a short priced favourite first time out at Yarmouth. He certainly looked capable that day of winning sooner rather than later, and this is a lower grade contest. Cansili Star is the most exposed, and returns to maiden company after being runner up in a nursery. His previous outings have been at a higher level than this. Jim Best's Appeal To Reason could be the pick of the debutants; American bred, he cost $75,000 last year, and could turn out to be anything. Support in the market may encourage us, likewise for the other newcomers. But we'll side with limited experience, and Govern.
