In depth

Verdict

Colwyn Bay won well last time at Kempton under a confident ride from Jamie Spencer and the duo can work the oracle again here to get the better of likely dangers French Opera and Jayer Gilles. The selection is not the easiest of rides but he seemed to score with a bit in hand last time when he beat Mister Completely and he looks like one to stay on the right side of at present. French Opera returns to the level after winning over hurdles last time and as that was his first run after a long break it was a noteworthy effort. He remains lightly-raced so has to be respected. Jayer Gilles responded to the first-time head gear to score last time but as that was his first win, much will depend upon whether the visor works the oracle again today. King's Ransom could go well if he sees out this trip, but with questions to answer on that score we will oppose him today and return to Colwyn Bay who can make it back-to-back wins.
