Verdict

It is never easy for horses to land bumpers under a penalty but unless one of the newcomers here prove to be out of the ordinary, with Devoran Quay and J'Adhere looking the pick of them, it is hard to get away from SHERWANI WOLF. Mark Rimell's gelding ran green but still won with plenty in hand on his debut at Plumpton in December on soft ground and, while the ground is quicker today, that should not be much of a problem for the son of Loup Sauvage. The Andy Haynes-trained What de Know Phil makes limited appeal on his debut, while stable companions Joli Al and Pretti Woman are both likely to do better once sent over fences by Mike Roberts. Amber Shell comes from a yard not known for their great success in this field. Devoran Quay makes less appeal than Peter Winkworth's J'Adhere among the newcomers but Sherwani Wolf sets a decent standard and is taken to defy the penalty for his Plumpton success.
