Verdict

Greensmith Lane lines up on the back of a recent win and can follow up at the expense of The Last Mohican and Hell-of-A-Shindy. It was 13th time lucky for Greensmith Lane when he finally opened his account here at Fontwell 12 days ago. That was in selling company over a slightly shorter trip, but the way he was booted clear by Emily Jones suggests he will not mind the step up in distance. This race is slightly harder but he could be up to the task against some none too inspiring rivals. Hell-of-A-Shindy's only other outing over hurdles was in a better-class race than this at Kempton in January, but he is primarily a chaser who has gone off the boil and the fact that he is put into this contest suggests that he is becoming a disappointment to J P McManus. The Last Mohican is rated in the 30's on the Flat and is still a maiden under both codes, so all in all, Greensmith Lane has a first-rate chance.
