In depth

Verdict

Romany Dream is the pick ahead of Twentytwosilver, Native Commander and Faddad, with Better Moment also added to the short-list. Romany Dream was successful twice at Fontwell two years ago, and although not fantastically handicapped compared to then, has shown enough this year to suggest that his turn is near again. He ran a fine race in defeat when chasing home Toulouse at Southwell last month, and with ground conditions to suit, should go close. Twentytwosilver made his debut over fences a winning one at Taunton in April and has since won a 12 furlong race on the Flat at Kempton. He has to be of interest with time on his side, while Native Commander in contrast is getting a bit long in the tooth now but is on a fair mark and has shown that he still has what it takes to be involved at the business end. Faddad has a light weight and has been knocking at the door, and Better Moment has the assistance of Tony McCoy in his bid to shrug off joint topweight. Romany Dream can register a third course win.
