      Verdict

      An above-average maiden bumper to end proceedings. Any money for the Nicholls’ newcomer Southfield Torr should be noted but he has a real staying pedigree. THE FLYING SOFA hasn’t been beaten far in either start so far, including one around here. He must be given the chance to recoup losses now upped in trip. Black Lightning was also a little disappointing last time but he’d run well on debut at Plumpton. Shaughnessy was noted staying on strongly over 2m at Huntingdon on Boxing Day but the mare L'chamise is likely to do better when she has some obstacles to negotiate.
