In depth

Verdict

The presence of Il Presidente is of obvious interest and the market should be checked extremely carefully for any signs of support for the German raider from the Andreas Wohler yard. However, RUGGED JACK sets a very decent standard here on the evidence of a smooth, eased-down success on his Uttoxeter debut. Ed Glassonbury takes his place in the plate once again and the combination are taken to make light of the penalty for that Midlands success. Unex Degas looks a lively threat though in receipt of plenty of weight in these testing conditions after showing up nicely behind Cool George on his West country bumper debut. Connections reach for blinkers today and a good account from the High Chaparral gelding is expected. Shining Embers looks the most interesting of the others and should be checked in the market.
