Tom Scudamore preferred Bathwick Man to American Art at Stratford last month and his judgement was vindicated, the former coming home a length-and-a-half clear of the latter. The runner-up is 5lb better off today but Scudamore keeps faith with his winning partner which suggests there may be more to come. He has a bit to find to overturn earlier Hereford form with GEORGE WOOLF, however, and it's Tim Vaughan's four-year-old that gets the vote even though he's trying this longer trip for the first time. Akbabend looks a better bet than stablemate Mangonel in this grade and may be the pick of the remainder.
