In depth

Verdict

Road To Riches looked very well handicapped to win a second Plate on Wednesday and was backed accordingly but hardly jumped a fence and was pulled up. He's obviously much better than that and it was revealed later that he'd lost a shoe. He might well have been thereabouts here as he was well in with runner-up ALELCHI INOIS but Willie Mullins' charge was probably unlucky not to win the big one and is hard to oppose in such brilliant form and with Road To Riches now out. Clarcam and First Lieutenant also ran in the Plate and the former ran an excellent race, only fading near the finish after looking to have every chance. The remainder have plenty to find.
