Verdict

Andrew Balding has won two of the last seven renewals and he runs the prolific Chesil Beach this time. He was second on his reappearance at Bath and should strip fitter today. William Of Orange was soon left behind by Ascot Stakes runner-up Fun Mac at Salisbury but this looks easier. Missed Call, third over 1m4f here last time, has to go on the short-list with James Fanshawe's team back in form while Pilgrims Rest and Thunder Pass weren't beaten far at Chester last month. Callum Shepherd gets on well with top weight Noble Gift but this trip may be beyond his best. Newmarket third Jacob Cats must have some sort of chance but, in an open race, we'll take a chance on PACK LEADER. His only previous victory came on this track and he wasn't beaten far behind Noble Gift and Jacob Cats here in September. He's better off at the weights with that pair and the booking of Richard Hughes is a big plus.
