      Verdict

Viscountess got back on track at Yarmouth and can make the most of a good draw. Castano and Crataegus are two of the more interesting opponents. Mark Johnston has an enviable record at this venue and the front running style of many of his horses is well suited to the track. Viscountess employed those tactics to good effect at Yarmouth on her return from an absence and made the most of a lowly handicap mark that had been earned following some modest performances at the start of the year. She got the better of a well handicapped rival that day and can make light of her penalty in this modest contest. Crataegus will need to improve if he¿s to land this prize but there¿s every chance that Henry Candy's runner may be able to find some improvement now handicapping. He's by the stable's smart performer Gorse and out of a winning dam and would be of definite interest if the market were to give out the right vibes. A number of the remainder are solid handicappers who are capable of landing races of this nature; Castano may prove to be the best of them on this occasion. He appears to have found his level having slipped down the weights and being fitted with cheekpieces and may still be competitive from his revised mark. He should be in the mix but Viscountess kept pulling out more last time and may prove tough to pass.
