The draw has sent out mixed messages in recent years. Seeking Magic was in stall 27 when successful in 2013 but the last two winners have been berthed low. Clive Cox' charge was well beaten a year ago but finished first passed the post here in May only to be disqualified. Hoof It won the main event in 2011 though doesn't appear suited by fast ground these days but there's no denying the chance of the three-year-old Projection, who was returning from a long break when finishing very strongly in a similar class handicap at Newmarket three weeks ago. Dougan found the minimum trip too sharp at Ascot and will be much more at home here but Fast Track hasn't won for two years and is still 2lb higher. Mukaynis is consistent but possibly a couple of pounds high and Ballymore Castle hasn't won since his juvenile days and has yet to prove himself at this level. The latter's stable companion Grandad's World is well handicapped at his best and looked on the way back at Nottingham but in a very competitive event it's BARNET FAIR, who won this in 2014 and was runner-up last year, both off a mark of 90, who gets the vote now 9lb lower.
