In depth

Verdict

Bivouac appeared like he will be suited by the drop back to 8f having been out-pointed by the well handicapped Blue Spinnaker at Doncaster, where after travelling quite well in front he appeared to be doing his rider no favours in the closing stages by hanging quite badly. That appeared down to wilting stamina and the drop in trip should see him go very close. Keisha Kayleigh was noted doing its best work in the closing stages following four months off the course. Ground conditions should suit while Pianoforte is another that cannot be left out if the reckoning. A consistent sort, he finished second in a Doncaster claimer last time when the much higher rated winner appeared get first run and as a consequence he never looked likely to reduce the advantage in testing conditions. Alan Swinbanks' second runner Capped For Victory has had two quick outings after an absence of almost two years and should be another to get in the mix. Bivouac is selected on the evidence of that promising second at Doncaster.
