In depth

Verdict

The in form Gargoyle Girl is taken to follow up her recent hard fought Musselburgh success, at the main expense of Own Line and Rotuma. Jim Goldie's mare was scoring a deserved success when getting home by a head at Musselburgh last time, and while a six pound penalty here means she is not especially well treated, this looks a fairly weak affair and she appears to be the safest option. She had earlier finished nearly five lengths ahead of Rotuma when second at Musselburgh and should confirm that form. Own Line put up an improved performance when winning at Catterick last time, but also has a six pound penalty and would probably prefer a sharper track. Spitfire Bob made much of the running when second at Newcastle last time and would have claims on that form, while Bradley My Boy also comes into the reckoning on his third in a claimer at Beverley last time. But Gargoyle Girl is the most consistent horse in the field and as such she looks the safest bet here.
