    Verdict

A poor contest where DALAROSSIE, Sunley Sovereign and Howards Tipple can all go well and the first-named is given the vote. The selection has won just once from 20 starts so far, so does not jump off the page as a good thing. However, he has gradually been sliding in the weights and has useful claimer Gary Bartley on board to take off a further 5lbs here, so you could argue that he is well handicapped in context. With conditions and trip no problem we will suggest him. Sunley Sovereign won here over 5f in May and is now back on that lowly mark of 47. He is certanly not one to trust, but he does pop up every so often, usually after a reasonable run, and his profile fits that pattern quite well today so it would be no surprise to see him go close. Howards Tipple is a standing dish at the track, having raced here 21 times already, winning one of those over the minimum trip. He is probably better over that distance and may have to settle for the frame here in spite of being on a reasonable mark. Future Gem won a Catterick maiden for Alan Dickman but has struggled in handicaps from only 2lbs higher than today. First-time cheek pieces might elicit some improvement, but on balance she is passed over. Botham would be an apt winner in an Ashes summer but he just looks to have a few pounds too many and Dalarossie is the selection in the last.
