Verdict

Another low quality affair but that won't concern connections of IF WE CAN CAN, who gained his first success on fast going at Redcar last month. A 5lb rise doesn't look enough to prevent a double though runner-up Troop looks certain to make a bold bid to go one better though another furlong would have helped. Amity Island, a winner at Southwell last month, was having his first start on Turf on ground with some give at Thirsk and may do better on this quicker surface. Admiral Rooke has never tried a trip this far but hasn't been stopping over shorter but Plansina won twice at Newcastle at the beginning of the year and looked as though this trip would suit when tackling a mile at Redcar last time. Irish raider Viscount Wilson has only had four starts, all over shorter, so don't be surprised by major improvement over this trip.
