In depth

Verdict

Wedaad gets the call here ahead of mainly Call My Number and Genari. Much as she only won narrowly on her debut, Wedaad, who is a half-sister to a couple of Queen Mary winners, left a good impression after running green on that occasion. With good improvement highly likely, it is hard not to give her a good chance today. Call My Number also looked green when winning at Beverley, but he too left a favourable impression and is also respected. Always Baileys has something to prove following a disappointing Sandown run, and Supreme Charter, a good second to Penny Whisper - with Hill Of Howth having a length to find on that form - at Newcastle last time, might prove to be the stable's stronger option. Pelham Crescent is tough and could be starting handicap life reasonably weighted, while Mister Benedictine was beaten from his revised mark on the all-weather last time, but might fare better back on Turf. Finally, Genari's Chesham Stakes run, when he was fifth, affords him a chance, but the vote goes to Wedaad.
