disputed 2nd until 7f out, close up, headway on outer over 2f out, ridden and chance over 1f out, not run on
A runner-up on her last couple of outings, CAPE SPIRIT looks to have a good chance of finally opening her account. Andrew Balding’s filly arrives in much better form than last year’s winner King Of Paradise but Zamoyski looks a bigger threat with last month’s comeback run at Epsom under his belt. Merchant Of Medici won here three times last year and is not easily dismissed now back on a winning mark.
Zamoyski 12-1 (10-7) Tracked leaders, in 3rd, ridden over 2f out, kept on same pace final furlong, 4th of 8, 2 3/4l behind Tapis Libre (10-9) at Epsom 1m 4f hcp (4) gd in Jul.
King Of Paradise (IRE) 8-1 (9-2) Tracked leader, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 7th of 9, 27l behind Carbon Dating (10-1) at Hamilton 1m 3f hcp (5) gd in Jul.
Merchant Of Medici 4-1 (10-7) With leaders, led over 2f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, kept on same pace, 3rd of 7, 3 1/4l behind Silver Alliance (11-0) at Pontefract 1m 2f hcp (5) gf in Aug.
Cape Spirit (IRE) 6-1 (9-4) Held up towards rear, headway 3f out, stayed on inside final furlong, went 2nd close home, no impression on winner, 2nd of 8, 3 1/4l behind Nolecce (9-2) at Nottingham 1m 6f hcp (6) gf in Jul.
