Verdict

Cornus has shown a consistent level of form recently and has to be respected with Frankie Dettori taking over in the saddle but, even on the revised terms, it is hard to see him reversing Newmarket form with Brunelleschi, who gets the vote ahead of Makabul. The last mentioned escapes a rise in the weights for his success in a Windsor claimer last time and has to be respected returned to a handicap today but he is likely to find this tougher. The Alan Jarvis-trained Effective has been knocking on the door of late and again has solid place claims but he may be a shade high in the weights at present. Roman Quintet ran better at Salisbury last time and has claims on that evidence if improving again, while Outer Hebrides would have a chance on the pick of his form but is on a long losing sequence. The same cannot be said of Brunelleschi who has won his last three starts and may be able to make it four on the bounce today.
