In depth

Verdict

In the nursery, Guertino is selected ahead of Lecanvey and Fitzroy Crossing. Guertino looked unlucky at York last time and may well have won given a little more racing time. The form of his defeat of Fol Hollow the time before that also looks good so he can go well today. Lecanvey has been crying out for a sixth furlong, which he gets today, and, with his form standing up to assessment, he too can go well. Recent winners Little Big Boy and Mr Keppel are ones to consider, along with Pelican Prince, who wasn't beaten that far in a valuable sales race at York last time. Giving weight to the field will not be easy but Taurian has left a very good impression in winning his last two races. Art Sale looked a little unlucky in running at Ripon last time so can be rated higher than for that decent effort, although the grader has raised him four pounds for the run. Dome Rock is likely to show improved form over today's longer trip, and he is nine pounds better off with Royal Confidence based on their recent Sandown meeting - although the winner won well there, as may Eastern Romance, who could be on a fair mark if putting it all together. Feisty Royale was slightly disappointing at Catterick last time but today's quicker going should help to show her in a better light, although her stable companion Fitzroy Crossing comes right into the equation based on his course and distance maiden win. Finally, Victorian Bounty has not done much wrong yet and might try to burn them all off but, for the selection, we will stick with Guertino.
