      Verdict

Merchant Of Medici is the only course and distance winner in the line-up but hasn't won since completing a hat-trick on the course two years ago, including this race. Livella Fella comes here with a penalty for Friday's victory at Doncaster and has a huge weight to carry. Melabi won a Class 6 handicap at Thirsk though was a well-beaten second when odds-on at this level at Brighton so the vote goes to THE MAJOR. Michael Bell's charge was conceding Livella Fella 2lb when narrowly beaten at Beverley a year ago and will be receiving 12lb here with his rider's claim taken into consideration. Maroc has yet to win but has dropped to a fair mark and can prove best of the remainder.
