Verdict

With so many races here seeming very open it's a bit of a relief to give a strong selection to the Evan Williams-trained GOLDEN FEATHER, with L'Eau Du Nil and Bathwick Man fancied for places. The selection was on a really impressive run of form before he unseated his pilot in a listed race last time. The six-year-old returns to the class which bought him three victories on the bounce in September but more importantly is back now to a mark two pounds lower than the last of those wins. With the jockey also taking some weight off and the gelding loving these conditions he should have the measure of these. L'Eau Du Nil was an impressive winner last time and won with enough in hand to suggest that the seven-pound penalty applied here should be too much of a burden. It's a quick turnaround for the gelding but a share of the prize money should be well within his grasp. David Pipe's Bathwick Man steps up in class after scoring with plenty in hand last time out. He's given plenty of chance to repeat his trip to the winner's enclosure racing off a lower mark but will have to find a bit more to beat the selection. Golden Duck is given a claim off a mark three pounds lower than his last winning rating but finishing races has been a problem recently and Golden Feather should prove too good for the lot of them.
