In depth

Verdict

Much improved of late, Sullane Storm is taken to win what may not be as competitive an event as the numbers suggest, with Commanche Hero and West Paces the most likely dangers to the selection. Formerly trained in Ireland, Sullane Storm has taken time to find his feet since joining the stable of Martin Pipe but recent wins at Taunton and Chepstow suggest that the son of Glacial Storm is now progressing the right way and the eight-year-old is taken to defy a 5lb rise in the weights. Commanche Hero has been raised 2lbs since his second to County Flyer at Hereford earlier in the month which looks harsh and a bigger threat may be West Places, who is open to more exposed than most and comes from the Toby Balding stable that has been back among the winners again recently. Hanover Square has to be respected on his best form but Nigel Twiston-Davies has been struggling to find winners of late and off a light weight Perk Alert might be of more interest to each-way backers.
