In depth

Verdict

A truly awful opener where LADY MALOUSA is a tentative pick, while Rash Moment and Scalini's might just be good enough to make the frame. The selection is, in context, at least a relatively consistent performer and lightly raced, so therefore open to improvement. Her run into the frame at Fontwell last time showed promise, this trip is fine, and if she handles ground on which she is not yet truly proven then she might be up to the task. Rash Moment drops back in trip after making the frame over three miles at Taunton last time. He gets through soft ground well enough and he can certainly figure in such a moderate affair. Scalini's is 8lb worse off with Regal Term for beating that opponent around 10 lengths when winning over course and distance and on soft ground last month. The eight-year-old is now 1lb higher than that success and both he and Regal Term should be thereabouts. Lord Alphieross has shown bits of ability and could also make his presence felt but we'll take Lady Malousa to score.
