In depth

Verdict

Wages gets a tentative vote over Pollensa Bay, Reflex Blue and Un Autre Espere in a wide open contest. Wages had fallen on his chase debut, but produced a pleasing effort next time over today's course and distance when second to Lindsay. Evan Williams is sure to place his charge to good effect and we can see Wages running a big race with improvement to come. Pollensa Bay was back in fifth when they met here, and although over a stone better off now, still has a bit to do to turn the tables. Reflex Blue ran well to be third on his chase debut at Chepstow, but was pretty much exposed over hurdles and will have to go some to make his mark, while Un Autre Espere may be best watched as he tried to run out and in there end got rid of his pilot at Fakenham after winning earlier at the Norfolk track. He has some ability but will he use it today? All in all, we would rather side with Wages who can pay to follow.
