Verdict

Vanormix can keep the Pipe pot boiling, with Rob Leach, Foxmeade Dancer and Silberweide seen as the main dangers. The latter has joined Milton Harris after disappointing on his final Flat start in Germany in April, and although very likely to benefit from the experience, should pick up a low-grade contest of this ilk during the winter. On this occasion though, he and the rest will do well to stop Vanormix from returning to the winner's enclosure. He was last successful at Taunton in January in a better race than this and has had just the two outings this season, being outclassed behind Chivite at Newton Abbot and then fading over two and a half miles at Worcester. He appears to be in the handicapper's grip at present, but the drop to this level should prove to be the answer and connections will be sorely disappointed if he does not score. Rob Leach has a long, long absence to overcome and is best watched in the market, while Foxmeade Dancer flopped at Taunton last time but had earlier been beaten in a photo over the course an distance in a very similar race to this. He can reach the frame but Vanormix is the one that they all have to beat.
